Our next meeting is this Tuesday at 7:30pm. Topics of discussion will include Memorial Day events, new tables and chairs, West Seattle Parade, and installation of Officers. Be there and bring a fellow vet with you.
This Saturday is the quarterly district meeting. Elections will also be held. Due to a prior commitment I will not be able to make it so I hope that others will be there.
Wounded vet and Dancing with the Stars winner J.R. Martinez will be speaking tomorrow at the Green River Community College at 7:30pm. It is $10 if you are not a student but you need to call ahead to reserve your seat. Click here to see the flyer.
If you don’t know who J.R. is, you should. He is a veteran of the Iraq war and suffered burns on 40% of his body when trapped in a HUMVEE. Throughout it all he has remained positive and and inspiration. Below is a video from DWTS.
Om Monday May 27th, at 2pm (Thanks for the update Joe), VFW post 2713 and American Legion Post 160 will be on hand to pay our respects to the fallen men and women of our history’s past.
If you can make it please do; and follow this blog for times and any other specifics about the event.
The Post will be making available 15 tables to the community for $5 each; while we participate in the West Seattle Community Garage Sale (WSCGS). The VFW will have two tables as well as the American Legion.
If you are unfamiliar with the WSCGS, it is an annual event that the West Seattle Blog hosts to bring the community together in “a fun way to encourage people to get out and meet each other — either by hosting a sale and inviting buyers to come by, or by heading out to check out the sales around town.”
They “plan to have the printable map ready for download/printing (and a clickable online version, too) no later than one week before sale day. Watch WSB on the Web, onFacebook, on Twitter, and West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day on Facebook and the Web (westseattlegaragesale.com) for notification of that.”
If you would like to rent a table please fill out the form below.
This Friday join your fellow comrades at the West Seattle Bowl at 7pm-9pm. We have lanes 11 and 12 reserved, it was $50 so make sure to talk to Kyle before you leave. Also show rental is not covered so make sure to have a few bucks for shoes and drinks.
