More than 500 homeless and at-risk veterans and their families will be offered a “hand up” with a variety of services provided at the second annual Seattle Stand Down on September 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the campus of Seattle Central Community College on Capitol Hill. Services and resources will be provided at the Mitchell Activity Center, 1718 Broadway, with additional services for women offered at the Broadway Performance Hall, 1625 Broadway. Free parking will be available in the Harvard Garage, corner of E. Pine and Harvard.
The West Seattle Junction Association puts up flags on all appropriate occasions. The volunteer job includes meeting Don, our handyman, at 7:30 am to put them out, and 6pm to put them away. (The flags are stored in the basement of the Cupcake Royale building and the job requires a lot of stair walking).
We are looking to create a list of interested people, so if you’d like to be called upon for September 11th and 16th or in the future, please e-mail Liz Schroeder at liz@wsjunction.org or call 935-0904.

Two hundred and thirty-seven years ago, our Nation’s leaders established the Continental Army, beginning a rich heritage of successfully defending this great country and her citizens. Today, we celebrate the continued honor, loyalty and bravery of our Soldiers in this noble calling. Our Soldiers remain Army Strong with a deep commitment to our core values and beliefs. This 237th birthday commemorates America’s Army – Soldiers, families and civilians – who are achieving a level of excellence that is truly Army Strong. We also celebrate our local communities for their steadfast support of our Soldiers and families. We are “America’s Army: The Strength of the Nation.”
