One of the first things a visitor to VFW Post 1 notices is the beer tap. It’s disassembled and discarded, in a pile of junk on the floor.
It’s a symbol of the change underway at the nation’s oldest Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter, now moving into a building being renovated at 4300 Pecos St. in Denver.
$193,000 is a staggering amount of money for a local business to donate in any scenario. But, that is exactly what KISW and Elysian Brewing have generated for the Puget Sound Fisher House over a two year period, with the help of local be
er drinkers, of course. Cheers to both Elysian and KISW for taking the initiative to put together this program, and cheers to everyone who continues to buy the beer. Keep it up.

LONDON — Florence Green, the world’s last known veteran of World War I, has died at the age of 110, the care home where she lived said Tuesday.
Briar House Care Home in King’s Lynn, England, said Green died Saturday, two weeks before her 111th birthday.
Born Florence Beatrice Patterson in London on Feb. 19, 1901, she joined the Women’s Royal Air Force in September 1918 at the age of 17.
