60th Anniversary of the Korean War Armistice, Monday, July 22nd at 1pm

King County Councilmember Rod Dembowski asked me to get in touch with you to invite you to an upcoming event at the King County Council recognizing the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War Armistice. On Monday, July 22nd, we will be hosting a brief reception at 1pm at the King County Courthouse followed by a formal recognition at the Council’s general meeting at 1:30.  All friends, family, and veterans are welcome to attend!

Attached is a flyer that you can post, forward, or disseminate to folks at your Post and also to your network of Veterans. We’re hoping to have a great event to recognize those who served in the Korean War, and would appreciate your help to get the word out.  Please feel free to include this on any events pages as well.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

West Seattle Community Garage is Today!!!

The VFW and the American Legion will be on hand at the Post today selling various items during the WSCGS. There will also be baby items and vintages items for sale.

The 9th annual West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day, with 281 sale sites all over the peninsula. In case you haven’t seen it yet, we wanted to quickly mention that the online version of the map is now live – until Sale Day (next Saturday, May 11th, 9 am-3 pm) is over, it has its own tab on the WSB navigation bar, below the right side of the sunset-photo header. We’re still tweaking the printable version – the online version usually debuts first, and if sellers spot any address anomalies, for example (the mapping program has had one so far, quickly fixed), we can get those handled before publishing the link to the printable map. (E-mailgaragesale@westseattleblog.com.) Text atop the map’s WSB page explains how to use the map (same format as the last 2 years) and also how it works with your smartphone.

P.S. Registration closed a week and a half ago BUT if you’re still hoping to sell some stuff next Saturday, you can check with the group sites directly to see if they have room left – WSB sponsors Hotwire Online Coffeehouse and C & P Coffee Company, as well as the VFW Hall in The Triangle and, in The Admiral District, Mind Unwind.

West Seattle Garage Community Garage Sale 5/11 9am-3pm

WSCGSThe Post will be making available 15 tables to the community for $5 each; while we participate in the West Seattle Community Garage Sale (WSCGS). The VFW will have two tables as well as the American Legion.

If you are unfamiliar with the WSCGS, it is an annual event that the West Seattle Blog hosts to bring the community together in “a fun way to encourage people to get out and meet each other — either by hosting a sale and inviting buyers to come by, or by heading out to check out the sales around town.”

They “plan to have the printable map ready for download/printing (and a clickable online version, too) no later than one week before sale day. Watch WSB on the Web, onFacebook, on Twitter, and West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day on Facebook and the Web (westseattlegaragesale.com) for notification of that.”

If you would like to rent a table please fill out the form below.

Regards,

Commander Sullivan

Seattle U Veterans Night 2/16 (Updated)

As some of you may know we teamed up with the district to participate in the Seattle U Veterans Night that is supporting the Wounded Warriors.

We will be setting up around 2:30 PM. My understanding is youth and adult Military teams are going to be playing 3p-5p prior to the Seattle U game that begins at 7 PM.

I think this is a great opportunity to do something in the Seattle area for veterans.

Please let me know if you want to attend. Tickets are limited.

(Update)

photo copy 4Our District 2 Commander Linda Fairbanks and Ray Fairbanks, Post Adjutant (along with many other titles) participated at this great event. They told me that they were able to recruit some new members and meet some great veterans.
