General Motors, Habitat for Humanity of Seattle King County and Habitat for Humanity International invite you to attend a Veterans Build Networking event in two weeks focusing on engaging veterans. Please REGISTER as soon as possible if you are sure that you can attend. PLEASE, select Partner Organization/VSO as the registration type to prevent the $15 charge. (2 per organization)
We would appreciate if you or your local representatives could attend the Veterans Build Networking Event 12-4pm. If your Veteran Support Organization would like to bring brochures to share with our HFH Affiliates that would be great. The event is to build a partnership and create a collaborative interaction for future opportunities and endeavors. Thank you.

WHO:
Any affiliate wanting to start or improve efforts to empower their local veteran community. This session will be especially useful for executive directors, family services staff and/or board members and focus on outreach, working with Veterans and partnerships.
WHY:
This interactive session will enable your affiliate to more effectively recruit and partner with veteran families. In the morning, you’ll discuss best practices with other successful Veterans Build affiliates. In the afternoon, you’ll meet national and local Veteran Build partner organizations such as Team Rubicon, The Mission Continues, Team Red, White & Blue, the VA and others and discuss how you can collaborate.
COST:
Thanks to General Motors generous support, registration is only $15! In addition, a limited number of $150 per affiliate travel stipends reimbursements are available for affiliates over three hours from Renton.
HOW:
Please REGISTER by February 15 so we can plan meals and set up the space appropriately!

February Coat Drive for Homeless Veterans

Seeking Applicants – Congresswoman DelBene’s Office Hosts 2-Year Wounded Warrior Fellow
Congresswoman DelBene’s district office has been selected to participate in the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program (job description attached).
The Wounded Warrior Program was established to create employment opportunities for veterans within the U.S. House of Representatives. These two-year fellowships provide veterans with experience and exposure to broaden career opportunities. Wherever possible, those selected for the program will be given the opportunity to transition into full-time employment. However, full-time employment is not guaranteed at the conclusion of the two-year fellowship.
Requirements: This program is limited to veterans who have served on active duty since September 11, 2001, with less than 20 years of service and have a minimum 30% disability rating from the Department of Veterans Affairs;.
In addition to a current resumé, applicants must submit a copy of their DD214 (Page 4) and a VA letter confirming that they have at least a 30-percent service-connected disability rating.

Please submit a resume, a copy of the last DD-214 issued (page 4) and a letter from the VA indicating a 30% or greater rating (not necessary if medically retired) to housewoundedwarriors@mail.house.gov.
